Petition on behalf of CM Superior Vincent de Paul to the PF prefect Francesco Barberini [1651]

Title

Petition on behalf of CM Superior Vincent de Paul to the PF prefect Francesco Barberini [1651]

Subject

CM petitions

Description

Petition on behalf of Vincent de Paul to Cardinal Francesco Barberini. The petition states there are people in France who want to obtain permission from PF to form a new congregation of secular missionaries in France. The cardinal is asked to take into consideration that: a) it would cause much confusion to have multiple congregations of secular priests with almost the same name; and b) CM has done many good things for many years in France and elsewhere. He is asked not to decide anything without having first consulted CM superior in Rome [Jean Dehorgny at that time]. The petition is unsigned and undated.
