Superiors of the Congregation of the Mission
The lists below comprise CM general superiors; superiors of the CM house in Rome; and superiors of the CM foreign missions that are most prominent in the Vincent de Paul collection (up to the end of the seventeenth century). There was no CM superior in Scotland (the prefect of the Scottish mission was not a CM member), so Scotland is not featured here.
The lists are partially based on Pierre Coste, “Liste des établissements de missionnaires fondés de 1625 à 1660 et noms des supérieurs,” in Saint Vincent de Paul: correspondance, entretiens, documents, vol. 8 (Paris, 1920-25), 516-520. The rest of the information comes from the documents included in this collection.
