Subject

Other secular missionaries

Description

Petition on behalf of Georgio Hayo [George Hay] to PF asking to enter the Scottish Benedictine monetary in Germany, despite the vow that he took to serve the Scottish mission, as a secular missionary; he claims to be unsuitable for the mission in Scotland. The secretary comments that the vow he took means that even after three years in the mission, one cannot become a religious missionary without permission from Rome. Moreover, there is a great need of secular priests in the Scottish mission. The rescript to this petition is "nihil" and it was discussed at PF meeting of 22 September 1664.
