Description

Minutes of PF general meeting of 1 October 1658 discussing among other issues, a petition by the procurator of the Scottish mission [William Lesley], who asks for the renewal of the faculties, and the continuation of the provisions for the Scottish missionaries. He also asks that PF decide whether William Ballantyne will continue to be prefect, or if they are going to appoint John Smith, Thomas Lumsden, or John Walker. The cardinals decided to have the nuncio check the state of the mission, and the qualities of Ballantyne's possible replacements.
