Description

Letter from PF to the nuncio to France, Carlo Roberti de' Vittori. PF has come to the understanding that Gio' LeVacher [Jean Le Vacher] has returned to Paris, leaving Tunis (where he used to be vicar apostolic), and the poor slaves behind. As the Mercedarians and Trinitarians have also returned to their provinces, there are only a few slave priests left to administer the sacraments. PF is very upset about the fact that Le Vacher has left the mission so suddenly, and without giving any notice, or waiting for another priest to take his place. PF aks de' Vittori to order Le Vacher to return to Tunis. PF has always been satsified with Le Vacher and want him to return to his position. In the case that he refuses to return, CM Superior [René Alméras] should send another priest in his place as soon as possibile, in order not to leave the Catholics on their own.
