Minutes of PF general meeting discussing the establishment of a Jesuit mission in Geneva; CM is mentioned as being active in that city and its members were consulted on the matter. The decision was to consult with clerks dealing with French matters, considering that the approval of the local parliment and the province governor (the prince of Condé) was required, as this particular part of the Geneva diocese (two unnamed parishes) was under the jurisdiction of the king of France.

Petitions for faculties
France (missions in)
PF (renewed) examination of request for missionary faculties by Pierre Gallais, CM superior in Sedan, because of additional information (sent by Gallais) according to which the mission in Sedan depends on the queen of France. PF decides that Cardinal Grimaldo get involved in this matter and that a letter be written to the nuncio to France, requesting more information on the usefulness of the mission in Sedan. Faculties should be granted to Gallais and his companions, as long as the main Superior of CM (Vincent de Paul, mentioned by name in the document) approves, and the nuncio expresses his support.

Minutes of PF particular congregation (convened especially for discussion of articles regarding the alumni of the Propaganda Fide College) where it was also mentioned that the bishop of Babylon had not resided in his bishopric in years, but lived in France instead. The decision of the meeting was to add a clause to the endowing breve of the bishopric, stating that the bishop (be it the incumbent or any of his successors) could not use the revenue produced by the bishopric unless he resided there. A note on the margin, however, indicates that it was later decided that no such clause should be appended to the breve.

Minutes of PF general meeting discussing, among other issues, the bishopric of Babylon. As referred by Mr. Marco, the bishop of Baghdad [Babylon] has been absent from his residence in Aspaham and currently resides in France. PF decided to have a note sent to the nuncio, together with a copy of the foundational Breve for the Baghdad bishopric, in order that, according to the terms of the Breve and the articles of the Trent Council, the bishop resolve to go back to Persia as soon as possible. Otherwise, the penalties reserved by said Council and the apostolic laws for cases of absent bishops would have to be applied.

Babylon
Minutes of PF general meeting discussing, among other issues, the bishopric of Babylon. As referred by Cardinal Spada, PF discusses the letters from Brother Bernard, bishop of Babylon, as well as the testimonies of two doctors from Paris, who attest to the bishop's infirmity and his frequent headaches, hearing and vision problems, based on which the two doctors conclude that the bishop cannot travel as far as Persia without putting his life in danger, nor can he stay there, on account of the lack of medical doctors and appropriate medicine. PF decided that: a) the bishop should either renounce the bishopric, or accept a coadjutor or a suffragan, so that the church does not remain without a shepherd; b) if the nuncio corroborates the information sent by the bishop, then it is likely that the pope will approve the bishop's request to remain in Paris to lead his pious college (mentioned in the bishop's letter), as long as the bishop sends a coadjutor or suffragan in his stead to Persia; and c) the present decree will be referred to the pope and the bishop will be advised of His Holiness' response.

Slaves (Christian)
Petitions for faculties
Capuchins
Minutes of PF general meeting discussing, among other issues, whether to grant Dominicus Raccus missionary faculties for Tunis. The subject was referred by Cardinal Ginetti and was based on a letter from two slaves from Tunis, who requested that the said Raccus be declared a missionary, as the previous missionaries were either old, dead, or had been freed and had gone back to their countries. PF decided - if the pope agreed - to write to Father Alexander of Genoa, prefect of the Capuchin mission in Barbary, in order to ask for his opinion on whether Raccus (or anybody else) should be granted missionary faculties in Tunis. Meeting held at "Collegium Propaganda Fide"; five cardinals were present (Capponius, S. Honuphrii, Cornelius, Ginettus, Pamphylius), as well as the assessor of the Holy See.
Additional comments
